DaCapo consortium gathers at Milan for key project milestones

By Eleni Natsi, CORE Group

In June 2025, the DaCapo consortium convened in Milan for a dynamic two-day project meeting hosted by Politecnico di Milano (POLIMI). The gathering brought together project partners for a comprehensive overview of the progress achieved so far and to chart the path ahead for DaCapo’s mission to support circular economy (CE) adoption in European manufacturing through data-driven services and digital tools.

Advancing the vision: Project status and strategic planning

The meeting kicked off with an overview of each Work Package (WP), highlighting recent achievements, open risks, and strategic next steps. All consortium members contributed updates on the progress made, shared critical insights, and reaffirmed the goals aligned with DaCapo’s broader vision.

The consortium also addressed potential challenges and mitigation strategies, underscoring the proactive and collaborative spirit that drives the project forward.

Use case demonstrations: Innovation in action

A key highlight of the meeting was a series of engaging demonstrations showcasing DaCapo's industrial use cases in action from GKN, Fairphone and PESMEL.

During these sessions, participants explored the Administrative Dashboard and tools. The DaCapo vision was clearly reflected in the tools’ functionalities—connecting data, sustainability, and CE principles.

Partners also reviewed identified challenges across use cases and presented a comprehensive KPIs overview, ensuring consistency and impact measurement across project outcomes.

A visit to CircEy's Didactic Factory

The meeting also included a guided visit to POLIMI’s CircEy Didactic Factory, one of the nodes in the DaCapo Didactic Factories Network. Partners had the opportunity to see the testbed infrastructure and learn how it is used for training, experimentation, and digital technology demonstration—supporting knowledge transfer and CE technology de-risking.

Looking ahead

The meeting concluded with a forward-looking session dedicated to defining next steps for the upcoming reporting period, refining partner roles, and aligning technical developments with dissemination and exploitation efforts.

A shared vision, strong collaboration, and continued innovation remain at the heart of DaCapo’s journey. The team celebrated this spirit with a social dinner in Milan, fostering the community that drives the project’s success.

Stay tuned as DaCapo continues to shape the future of circular manufacturing across Europe.
